Your past doesn't have to be their future

There is an old saying that says, "you don't know what you don't know". For us our childhood was filled with doing as much as you can with what you got. I'm sure that is the sentiment of a lot of people growing up. We stuck to the neighborhood and didn't worry about the things that kids outside of our neighborhoods were doing. We were happy--we were content. As adults, we realize that the world is not as it once was. We continue to cling to what our parents taught us while trying to incorporate it into today's society. Its always going to be a struggle, however we must do different, therefore we must be different. So growing up we didn't get an opportunity to experience some of the things some would consider normal, but when you're a parent, you have to make new experiences. This summer, we were able to take our daughters to Disney for a week. We enjoyed birthdays and good food. We got to meet people like Belle, Cinderella, Ariel, etc. Its a princess kinda thing. Most importantly, our daughters enjoyed themselves. Oh yeah, and so did we.
